The Chill is in the Air...

Have you noticed a change? Fall is here. The warm days of summer are fading into the cool mornings of fall. The leaves are beginning to change, and the sunlight is shrinking. We shouldn't be surprised, it happens every year. But for some reason it still manages to catch us off guard the first morning we realize summer is leaving. It amazes me how the seasons change without needing a reminder. Sure they are marked on the calendar, but that is our reminder not Nature's. Nature always responds to the way God designed it. God set in order four seasons. Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring have very distinct characteristics. But somehow by God's design they form the annual cycle that helps keep earth balanced. Each season serves a purpose. And Nature confirms to us that God is in control!

The heavens declare the glory of God,

and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.

Psalm 19:1

As I grow older I find myself paying more attention to the changing seasons of life. Each season of life has distinct characteristics. Just like the seasons of Nature, life's seasons are ordained by God for a certain amount of time. Like a long cold January, or hot dry July, some seasons seem to linger. But they never linger long enough to prevent the next season from beginning. They always follow the cycle of God's order. Our lives are the same. Some seasons of life are difficult, while others are as calm and peaceful as a summer breeze. But together these seasons work to carry out God's perfect design for our lives. They help mold and shape us into the image of our Savior Jesus. And they never last longer than God has ordained. Just like in nature, God is in control of every season of our life. Our responsibility is to proclaim His handiwork to those around us! This week I encourage you to respond to the season you are in as if you know God is in control!

In Christ
